Family Connections Program
The Family Connections Program is a research-based twelve-week course for family members with a relative who has either Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) or symptoms of the disorder. It was developed by Dr. Alan Fruzzetti and Dr. Perry Hoffman and is taught from a detailed manual created by them.
Offered by trained family members of sufferers and some volunteer therapists at no cost, this course provides knowledge about the disorder and its treatment and teaches Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, so that family members can both help themselves and implement strategies to cope with and help their loved ones. Since BPD often leaves family members feeling bewildered and alone, this program also provides those who wish with a support group composed of other people who can truly understand the trials and tribulations of living with a relative suffering from the disorder.
The duration of each meeting is two hours (usually 20:00-22:00) and there will be 12 consecutive meetings. We will start promptly, so that we can cover all the material. It is imperative that you commit to attending all the sessions as the material and skills build one upon another.
